How to transfer files from computer to phone wirelessly (wifi)

Post by William » 1 year ago

If you have wifi at your humble aboad you can go to the playstore and search for "Es file explorer".

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... ndroid.pop

After installing the application, you can setup a LAN/SMB connection between your android phone (linux) and your windows PC (microsoft).

Simply add a new connection or resource, select lan/smb and have it scan the network your connected too (your home wifi), find your desktop name/local ip address on the list (it will look like this 192.xxx.xxx.xxx) make sure that the windows host computer has filesharing turned ON and password protected sharing is turned OFF.

To share a drive simply go to My Computer, right click on the hard drive (lets say C: or D:) and select properties, then click the sharing tab, click the advanced sharing button, and share "this folder", click the permissions button and check box "every one" .. make sure all 3 are checked, so it looks like this.

Once that is done, navigate your mouse cursor down to your wifi/lan internet connection icon in the lower right hand corner and right click on it, it will look just like this:

Select open network and sharing center

Select "Change advanced sharing settings" on the left link

Your screen should now look like this

Click each arrow and turn sharing on for each network type and password protected sharing off "you may leave encryption enabled".

For example i've done it for All Networks as follows:

Do that for EACH network type, apply settings and hit OK/whatever.

You should now be able to see your computer from within ES File Explorer on your smartphone/tablet. You may have to reboot the computer and phone if you cannot.

You can now copy/paste files between your windows 7/8/8.1/10 computer and your android phone/tablet without having to use a USB cable, it should work for windows XP as well but its been a few years since i used it.

Have fun with it!

Great, nice post William,

when I plug my phone (Infinix Hot) to my laptop, it only displays "Charging".
No way to connect and transfer file..

I would surely try this out now...

I would update my progress BTW.

Does it work on Infinix phones?
And on Samsung laptops?

It was the same with me too.
Then I tried a different approach.
Switch of your Infinix phone.
Connect the USB cable to your phone and then switch it on back.
Now you van transfer what you wanna.

I have never heard of an infinix phone im sorry, if you share your C:\ hard drive on your laptop btw, you may have to use only certain folders such as "public" folder or "share" folder.. You might not have permissions to save to other folders from your phone with out me posting more complicated permission settings with images of the process.. this will work with ANY windows machine xp,7,8,8.1,10.. doesnt matter what brand of laptop you have.
